Michele Motiscause | Ferri di Carta | 2019
Michele Motiscause is maintaining his aesthetic research in the painting series, “Ferri di Carta” 2019, presented at the inauguration of the artist’s new Barcelona studio. After his well-received paintings on paper, “Missed Calls” 2018, the artist turns again to his favourite medium, however this time he adds a different and essential material. To accentuate the lines, signs, forms and equilibriums sought in-between the colours, Michele has chosen iron which in some pieces even creates the illusion of velvet. The iron frames, some oxidised, some re-elaborated with choice pigments, some left in their natural state, envelope and enhance the pieces with a fundamental element characteristic of an entire historic era. The artist has successfully exploited metal as the universal symbolism of weight to bring balance to his work. The “Ferri di Carta” series represents a contemporary and mature trajectory of renovation – acutely aware of artistic language.
