Michele Motiscause | Missed Calls Series | 2018
Missed Calls is a state of mind. It’s the urgency to listen your inner voice, the one we often ignore because we think it suggests change or other situations outside of our comfort zone. These are inner voices that prod us to remember truths which we do not want to face. Sometimes, these voices indicate a new direction, and this is the case with Michele Motiscause with this works. Their strength stays in the mark making, sometimes visibly disorderly and, at the same time, always searching for equilibrium. The vivid colours hare not casually chosen: the artist works through painting and drawings, achieving a conscious technique and a decisive stroke. Throught his pictorial sign, Michele Motiscause wants to quote and pay homage to the abstract art of the ’50 and ’60 (Emilio Vedova, Franz Kline, Alberto Burri). The strength of the coloured parts contains, dominates and intersects with the different geometrical figures. The objective is within the intensity of a constant research, towards new aesthetic registers.
